Camera recommendations?

Here is the deal; I’m a bit addicted to online shopping. Yes, I’m stuck in my house “studying” for the CPA Exam and there is no escape but the Internet. In less than 3 months I ordered in six different online stores. Very BAD, since I’m suppose to be saving for all the moving expenses.

Anyways, I don’t have a camera (I know, who doesn’t have one?). But this I not a random expense like clothes or shoes so I’m totally allow to buy one without feeling guilty. A camera is an essential part in one’s life. How else are you going to capture all the random moments and great memories during your life’s journey? I survive this long without one thanks to facebook, where I can borrow my friends’ pics of the nights out. But enough! I want my own photos! ;)

I want to buy a digital point-and-shoot camera that I can take with me anywhere and take a photo of everything I see in the city so everyone can see thru my lens. I truly love photography and I wish I could be better at Photoshop so I could get the most of it. Well, I asked a friend some advice and he recommended the Nikon Coolpix. I turn to you my followers… Do you have any recommendation on digital cameras? Any bad experience with a brand?

Right now I use a Panasonic DMC-FS7 and I.LOVE.IT! It is crystal clear and has a variety of settings to choose from. Otherwise I would highly suggest any Sony Cyber-shot :)

I have a Nikon Coolpix s630 and I love it. Its very user friendly and if you ever do start using Photoshop it integrates really well. Also it has a rechargeable battery pack so you save $$ and the earth.

Shopping online is addictive haha i get caught up in it all the time. I have a sony cyber-shot and like it alot. there is a smile setting on it so you don't have to push the button to take pics. Suggestion: you should totally look into it :)

I've just got the Canon Ixus 100 IS and it's really super. It's super slim so you can have it in your pocket, it's light and they come in some nice colors (mine's the gold/bronze one). When I was looking for a camera, the things that were importent for me were:
Big display, thin and light, with video-option. So you just have to list what you think a camera should have, and what you needs are :)
Good luck hunting :)

I own a Canon Powershot SD 40 and it's amazing! I actually blog about it. When i was in Japan they advice me to buy either Nikon or Canon because they say, they are the best brands when it comes to cameras.
Goodluck!

I would just recommend that whichever you settle with, try and get shock proof and water proof! Mine is and it has been saved many times thanks to these 'special abilities'. I call it "drunk proof" haha but also I have been saved in everyday life like when I got caught with my camera out in a sudden thunder storm, and I also happen to be a clutz and drop things a lot!
Good luck!!

I did tons of research, and the best point and shoot I could find was Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS3. Plus it's red and so beautiful! Good luck in your decision :)

Well technology has caught up in the camara market. Just about any camara now comes with 10 mega pixels or more. So my advice is to get a camara with a fast shutter time (time it takes to take a picture) that way you wont miss the perfect shot. Also for features like stabilization, size and look (since it would be used in NY;) ).

I think Nikon coolpix is already good. Its user-friendly, and the features & quality of the output, are nice. Plus, it's not that bulky and fragile.

Anyway, if your having second thoughts, just check on reviews. It helps.=)

Canon is THE best brand. Period. The only other camera you should ever think of purchasing is a Nikon. That being said, what's your price range? For a point and shoot you probably won't end up spending more than 200 dollars. I have a Canon, it was about 109 dollars and it works pretty good. More of the pictures on my blog have been taken with that camera. I made a blog post about it a little bit ago. The only problem is that it doesn't have rechargeable batteries. So if you have the money I'd spring for a camera with rechargeable batteries, otherwise you're going to go through 6 bucks every couple of weeks, depending on how many pictures you take.

Also, I know you want to buy this online, but go to the store and try them out if you can. They have point and shoots everywhere, even target, but if you want a good selection go to fry's or best buy.

for a point and shoot i'd go with a canon IXUS80 as it's super flattering and easy to use.

I have a Canon Powershot from a few years ago and I love it. I basically told the guy at the store I want to be able to take awesome shots if the NY Jets (football) during the games. He handed me this camera and I love it. I can take video as well. Good luck on your search

hey girl! i dunno if you bought your camera already but if you didn't, canon makes some of the best point and shoots on the market. the nikon coolpix is great too, and terribly cute, but i've had both nikon and canon and i find canon to do still cameras just a little better. but either one is going to be great! so excited for you, i LOVE buying new gadgets.

Panasonic DMC-TZ1 has been good to me. We purchased it to take shots while in Italy for our Honeymoon and it took the most amazing photos! Easy to use - though clunky in comparison to using my camera phone - htc eris - which I believe is a 5mega pix camera phone, also takes great pics and so EZ to share as tweetpics, on FB or send right to flickr to edit!! Good luck w/your search!
