Happy Cinco de Mayo

Cinco de Mayo or the Fifth of May is a day that will be celebrated all over the world on this year’s Wednesday, May 5, 2010. In Mexico or wherever the culture of Mexico is celebrated — families, friends and neighbors gather to have a fiesta in honor of the event. This festival observes the 1862 victory of 4,000 ill-equipped Mexicans over 8,000 well-equipped French invaders. The battle known as La Batalla de Puebla that took place on...(you guessed it) May 5.

Today, all is forgiven, with fiestas planned in Mexico and in many communities around the world where Mexicans live. Even those who are not Mexican have little idea why they are coming to a Cinco de Mayo celebration are happy to commemorate the day and join in the fun and parties on May 5th. He in my little Island we usually go to old San Juan where the streets are packed with people celebrating. I have many funny drunk stories over this celebration, lol. Anyways, here we never lack of excuses to celebrate something… Looking forward to next year and see how NYC celebrates in comparison with us (my island).

Well in commemoration here is my favorite Margarita Recipe: Mango Margarita!!

I didn't realize you lived in Puerto Rico! I'm a little slow to catch on to things sometimes. :-) That recipe sounds pretty great. My favorite Carribean mix drinks are the mojito and the coqui. Dunno what their source is. Which drinks did Puerto Ricans invent?

We invented the Pina Colada and the Coquito!!
Mojito is from Cuba!! ;)

Hope you had a good day.

Wow! that looks fun! I never had a margarita in my entire life. I am not a drinker so i guess that will be impossible to happen. But from the name of those drinks, pina colada and coquitos are tempting, make me wanna taste one.

Btw, i gave you an award on my blog. Check it out!

Actually Pina Colada and Coquito can be made without alcohol and taste just the same!!! So if you're ever in the NYC area give me a holla and I will make you some virgin Pina Colada!!! ;)
Promise that they will rock your world!!
