Plan A

I already booked the plane tickets to go apartment hunting in NYC and a great task is ahead. I can already feel the city and its energy. This is so exciting and what I look forward the most is decorating my apartment. So, the plan? Well, the Accounting Firm I will be working offered a broker to help but a friend of mine that used them gave me some very bad feedback about them. I will be using them but not totally relying on them. I’m also going to make a list of all the Craiglist adds that I like and making a schedule to visit them too. Any advice?

During my time apartment hunting, i’ll be staying at my cousin house outside the city but just 30 minutes away. She will be taking some time off work to help me, at least for a few days. Her help came from heaven. Seriously, if she hadn’t offered to help I would've ended up alone at some hotel spending a lot of unnecessary money. Yes, you read right, ALONE! My friend, soon-to-be housemate, said she couldn't go apartment hunting with me because she wanted to spend some time with her family before moving. I completely understood and agreed to go alone. But this week she told me that she is planning a trip to LA to visit a friend by the same time I'll be in NYC. Um, what?

On another note, last night my bf gave me this beautiful heart locket with a picture of us inside as a going away gift. I know it's going to be hard being so far from each other for almost a year but we love each other and I believe that every couple can stay together during the good/happy times but it's in the adversity when true love really fortifies.

{ps: Please, please do my survey if you haven’t. Thanks and don't forget, tomorrow is my first giveaway!}

Oh, apartment hunting is really fun but it drains energy more than you think! Some shabby apartments in a row, hot weather and traveling from one part of the city to another really makes you exhausted! So plan some breaks and drink lots of water :)

Good luck and hope you find something you like! Take a lot of pictures :)

being independent is so nice but make sure the apartment is near your work and most of all, it's safe. take some pictures and good luck:)

Apartment hunting in NYC is not an easy task, be mindful that not all Craiglist ads are legit so do not pay anyone or send cash anywhere without meeting someone at the intended apartment. That should go without saying, but you'd be surprised how many people get scammed. I don't know where you're looking to live, but some places in Brooklyn are really in the up-and-up and relatively close to Manhattan.
I don't have any expertise in apartment renting, but my bf actually blogs about his experiences so all my experience is vicarious. If you have anymore questions, don't be afraid to ask! Bloggers are your greatest resources.

PS- Being in a long-distance relationship is a hurdle I may also be trying to get through so I'd love to hear how you guys plan to work through that.

Woww. You're so strong to take the step of staying away for a year. I am literally terrified of long distance but I guess it is an occurence for most couples at least once in a lifetime.

Good luck with it all, babe.

Love your necklace~ Very pretty! When my husband and I were still dating we lived apart for a year. It was hard to be far away from one another, but we got through it and we're married now! So I know that long distance relationships can work. :) I hope you find a great place to live. Good luck!

So excited for you! And a beautiful necklace, how sweet!
My boyfriend and I were apart for more than a year while I went away to grad school. We made it just fine and have been married for almost 8 years. It will be, if it's meant to be! :)
Best,
Tina
